Rigaku Raman Analyzer Supports Philippine Customs in Cocaine Interdiction at NAIA

Rigaku handheld Raman analyzers continue to play a role in frontline law enforcement and customs interdiction efforts around the world. In a recent operation at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, officers from the Bureau of Customs – NAIA intercepted an arriving passenger carrying approximately 8.197 kilograms of suspected cocaine, with an estimated value of ₱43,444,100.

According to the official Philippine Customs media release, x‑ray screening of checked baggage revealed suspicious areas that prompted a thorough physical examination. The white powdery substance concealed inside the luggage was later confirmed to be cocaine. The passenger was subjected to legal proceedings under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Customs leadership emphasized the vigilance and thoroughness of their officers in preventing the exploitation of airport entry points by drug traffickers. This ongoing commitment to strengthened inspection, risk profiling, and inter‑agency coordination is central to the national government’s anti‑illegal drugs campaign and public safety mandate.
