STA
A Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer (STA) is an instrument capable of performing thermogravimetric (TG) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) measurements simultaneously. TG measures changes in the mass of a sample during heating or cooling, allowing analysis of reactions such as decomposition, oxidation, dehydration, and volatilization. DSC detects changes in thermal energy associated with endothermic and exothermic reactions or phase transitions (e.g., melting, glass transition), providing insight into the thermal properties of materials.
With STA (TG-DSC), both mass changes and thermal events can be obtained under identical conditions using a single sample. This improves measurement reproducibility and efficiency, enables the acquisition of correlated data with high precision, and enhances the reliability of the results.
STA is widely used in various fields such as materials development, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, batteries and energy, polymers, ceramics, metals, and organic and inorganic materials. It supports applications including compositional analysis, stability testing, and quality control.
Examples include thermal stability evaluation of new materials, decomposition temperature analysis of lithium-ion battery components, and thermal behavior analysis of catalysts, all of which contribute to ensuring product safety, improving performance, and optimizing manufacturing processes.
Learn more about STA
STA (Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer) is an instrument that can measure both changes in sample weight (TG) and heat flow (DSC) at the same time. It provides efficient and reliable data even with a small amount of sample, helping you understand the properties and changes of materials more clearly. STA is widely used in fields such as battery development, pharmaceuticals, and materials research.

Learn more >Features of Rigaku’s STA
STAvesta from Rigaku delivers the functions you want, the accuracy you need, and the stability you can trust.
Thanks to its horizontal differential balance design, STAvesta offers high-precision detection of even minute weight changes, with minimal influence from gas flow rate. The system comes standard with Dynamic TG, which controls temperature based on the rate of weight change. Compared to constant-rate heating, this enables improved separation and resolution.
All six types of interchangeable furnaces can be swapped out easily without interference from attachments, and the system is compatible with evolved gas analysis (EGA) expansions.
High-accuracy, reliable quantitative measurements are made possible through reduced oxygen concentration, a newly developed automatic adjustment mechanism, and improved thermal uniformity inside the furnace for enhanced baseline stability. STAvesta supports a wide range of users—from beginners to experienced professionals.
