Indonesian authorities recently intercepted the MV King Sun in the waters near Bintan, Riau Islands, as part of a joint operation involving the Indonesian Navy, National Police, National Narcotics Agency, Customs and Excise, and other government agencies.

During the investigation, authorities discovered 65 sacks containing approximately 1,300 packages concealed within a hidden compartment aboard the vessel. Samples of the recovered material were analyzed using Rigaku Raman technology operated by Indonesian Customs and the Indonesian Navy, confirming the presence of ketamine. Authorities reported a total seizure of approximately 1.3 metric tons.

The operation demonstrates how field-based chemical identification technology can support law enforcement, customs, border security, and military personnel when rapidly identifying suspected illicit substances during complex interdiction operations.
