Ovonyx

X-ray Multilayer Analyzer Optics

Enables light element analysis in laboratory XRF Instruments

Ovonyx multilayer optics are the most popular light element X-ray analyzers for all standalone X-ray wavelength dispersive spectrometers (WDS) and WDS attachments used on SEMs and in electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Ovonyx analyzers are sold to all major X-ray spectrometer manufacturers around the world.

Ovonyx Overview

Careful selection of coating materials, d-spacing and manufacturing processes provides the most intensity of any competing X-ray multilayer, making Ovonyx the first choice for spectrometer manufacturers.

Ovonyx multilayers can be used in sets for the analysis of different wavelengths and are available in planar or cylindrical configurations for sequential and simultaneous or Rowland Circle spectrometers.

Applications for Ovonyx analyzers for XRF & EPMA

  • Tabletop WDXRF instruments
  • Electron probe microanalyzers
  • Laboratory WDXRF instruments
  • WDS attachments for SEMs
  • von Hamos spectrometers

Broad to specific wavelength coverage

Ovonyx analyzers cover either a broad range of wavelengths or, for the best possible results, one or two specific wavelengths.

  • OV-A family of analyzers provide outstanding performance from Si through O
  • OV-N family offers excellent results from O through Be
  • OV-C analyzers give the best results for carbon analysis, especially in matrices containing oxygen
  • OV-E provides outstanding signal for nitrogen analysis
  • OV-H provide very good B and Be analysis but have been replaced by OV-Y
  • OV-Y analyzers which are, by far, the best performing multilayers on the market for B and Be
  • OV-WA analyzers are non-toxic alternatives for TlAP crystals, offering excellent signal, low background and suitable resolution for Si through Mg.

Over 40 years in manufacture brings many advantages

Rigaku's Ovonyx product line has several advantages in the analysis of Li through Be over competing multilayer or natural crystals. Reflectivity, high order suppression, reduced background, and stability to substances, temperature, and radiation damage make Ovonyx multilayers superior analyzers in light element spectroscopy.

Available for any spectrometer, more than 50,000 Ovonyx analyzers sold

Designed for high reflectivity, Ovonyx multilayer optics provide users with high-order suppression leading to reduced background noise. Excellent stability to substances and temperature effectively extends the life of your optic, maximizing your return on investment.

Custom tailoring of d-spacings, various Rowland circle radii, and mounting allow Ovonyx multilayers to be used in any WDS application.
