X-ray Microscopy

What is an X-ray microscope?

An X-ray microscope is an instrument that uses X-rays to observe the internal structure of a sample at high magnification. Unlike optical or electron microscopes, it enables non-destructive observation inside the sample. Both micro-CT and X-ray microscopes are CT systems that use X-rays, but each has its own strengths. Micro-CT offers micron-level resolution and can accommodate a wide range of sample sizes, making it a versatile and suitable tool for evaluating various types of materials. On the other hand, an X-ray microscope provides submicron resolution. While the sample size is more limited, it excels at visualizing fine defects and evaluating localized structures.
