STA8122/HUM

Humidity Controlled STA

Measures weight changes and endothermic or exothermic reactions

STA8122/HUM is an instrument where TG-DTA measurements can be performed in a water vapor atmosphere with a constant relative humidity. In STA8122/HUM, TG-DTA measurements are carried out under a constant water vapor partial pressure. This instrument can provide a complete understanding of the sample’s thermal behavior with regards to different water vapor partial pressure, effective for applications such as hydrolysis of polymers, thermal behavior of hydrates in pharmaceuticals, debinding of ceramics.

STA8122/HUM Overview

TG-DTA measurements held at a constant temperature while changing the relative humidity measures the absorption ratio with regards to relative humidity useful for the sample’s water absorption property evaluation.

The humidity generator (HUM-1) uses N₂ base gas to create a water vapor containing a humidity controlled gas to be introduced to the TG-DTA.

Here, the TG-DTA is equipped with a specialized electric furnace that keeps the temperature constant through a circulator to prevent condensation even at high water vapor concentration atmosphere and can perform measurements at a maximum of 80℃ 90% RH atmosphere.

The humidity sensor equipped with a feedback control leads to a stable humidity for longer measurements. Since the relative humidity settings in TG-DTA is integrated in the temperature program, the user can change the relative humidity in each step of the temperature program.

STA8122/HUM Specifications

Technique Simultaneous thermal analysis with humidity control
Benefit TG provides information on the weight changes derived from reactions such as dehydration, evaporation, sublimation, desorption, decomposition, adsorption, oxidation, while DTA provides temperature information associated with endo- or exothermic reactions

STA8122/HUM Options

The following accessories are available for this product:

Gas Selector

Links to the measurement program and switches the gases flowing into the sample chamber.

Flow Meter

The flow meter controls the flow rate of the atmospheric gas (inert gas, air, etc.) supplied to the sample chamber.

2ch-FLOW COMPO Jr.

Enables gas flow, flow rate setting and switching of gases with precision specified in the measurement program. Gas types and full scale can be selected.

Sample Pan

Depending on the sample to be measured (especially if the sample is metal), it may melt the sample pan and damage the sample holder or other parts of the instrument.

Sample sealer / Sample crimper

A sample pan shaping tool with three functions: sample crimper, sample sealer, and high-pressure sample sealer.
