Cryo transfer holder from Simple Origin

For samples that are unstable in vacuum or require cryo protection prior to introduction into the diffractometer’s vacuum, cryo-transfer is an essential capability. Simple Origin’s Model 217 is a cryo-transfer sample holder offering the ability to load two standard 3 mm grids simultaneously. This allows for increased throughput by minimizing the need to remove, reload and re-insert the sample holder for the next sample grid. A simple retraction mechanism withdraws the grids into the safety of the sample holder to maintain the temperature and nitrogen atmosphere during the transfer to the instrument vacuum. The sample temperature can be controlled, to set a desired temperature or to allow for de-icing protocols.

The onboard LN₂ dewar is designed to allow mechanical stability at high tilt so that experiments can be conducted at low temperature without worrying about spillage or mechanical disturbances.
