TVBS News: Rigaku Handheld Raman Analyzer Assists in Taiwan’s Largest “Zombie Drug” Smuggling Case

Rigaku’s handheld Raman technology was recently featured in a Taiwan news report highlighting the country’s largest seizure of so-called “zombie drugs.”

The Kaohsiung District Prosecutor’s Office uncovered a major smuggling operation involving approximately 300 kilograms of etomidate, an anesthetic compound being illicitly distributed as a recreational drug. The substance, with an estimated street value exceeding 7.5 billion New Taiwan Dollars, was successfully identified using Rigaku’s handheld Raman analyzer, supporting local authorities in their investigation and rapid substance confirmation.
